To kickstart 2025 on a high note, we organized a three-day, two-night Employee Retreat designed to strengthen team relationships, boost morale and align our workforce with the company’s vision for the year ahead. Set against the stunning backdrop of Penang, Malaysia, the retreat offered a blend of professional growth, team-building activities, and community engagement, ensuring a well-rounded and enriching experience for all participants.

Day 1: Inspiration and Reflection

The retreat commenced on January 10, 2025, with our journey to Penang. As part of our commitment to recognizing and celebrating our achievements, we visited PMU Prai The Light - one of our most iconic completed projects. This visit was a moment of pride, showcasing the dedication, expertise, and collaboration that contributed to its success. It served as both an inspiration and a reminder of the collective efforts that drive our company forward.

For accommodation, we selected the Shangri-La Golden Sands Beach Resort, a venue that seamlessly blends comfort, luxury, and Penang’s scenic coastal beauty. That evening, we gathered for a themed Black & White buffet dinner, a symbolic reflection of MDSB’s 31-year journey. The Black & White theme represented the highs and lows, joys and sorrows, challenges and triumphs that have shaped our company over the years. Black signified the moments of struggle, the obstacles we overcame, and the resilience we built along the way, while White symbolized the victories, the breakthroughs, and the continuous pursuit of excellence.

As we sat together, dressed in unity, we were reminded that every challenge we have faced has only made us stronger, and every success has fuelled our drive to achieve even more. This dinner was not just a celebration; it was a tribute to the hard work, perseverance, and dedication of every employee who has been part of MDSB’s incredible journey. The night concluded with an insightful and inspiring motivational session delivered by our CEO, reinforcing the lessons of the past and igniting a shared vision for the future.

Day 2: Team Building and Overcoming Challenges

The second day was dedicated to team building and personal growth at ESCAPE Theme Park Penang, where participants were divided into six teams to compete in eight thrilling and strategic challenges. Activities such as rope climbing, ziplining, and balancing exercises pushed individuals beyond their comfort zones, fostering teamwork, confidence, and resilience. The day culminated in a winner announcement, celebrating the dedication and spirit of collaboration among all participants.

Day 3: Giving Back to the Community

The retreat concluded with a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative - a beach cleaning activity along Penang’s pristine shores. This meaningful effort reinforced our commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility, allowing employees to give back to the community while fostering teamwork in a different setting.
